Once a month in Berlin: a guest talks for 30 minutes, then we discuss it for about an hour around one table. It's free to come — you just pay for your own dinner and drinks.

Autumn 2026 Date to be announced Berlin Venue to be confirmed

We're planning the first one now

Guest to be announced

We're talking to the first people we'd like to invite.

Nothing has happened yet — this is the beginning. We're finding the room, settling on a weeknight and inviting the first guest. Leave your email and you'll know the date before anyone else does.

30 minutes

The guest talks about their work, without slides or a lectern.

60 minutes

Then the table discusses it together. This is the part people come for.

25 seats

Small enough to stay one conversation. You pay for your own dinner.

The evenings

Every salon runs differently

Once a month, about 25 of us sit down together, and there's no fixed programme. Here's the kind of evening you might walk into.

A talk The guest speaks first

The most common evening: someone talks for about 30 minutes on their work, then the discussion runs for an hour.

A debate A proper argument

Sometimes we invite two people who take opposite sides of a question, and everyone at the table picks one.

A visit We go somewhere

Now and then we meet at a gallery or an artist's studio instead, and someone there shows us around.

Just dinner No guest at all

Some months we don't invite anyone — it's dinner and whatever people feel like talking about.

About the salon

Berlin has done this before

Around 1800, Rahel Levin Varnhagen and Henriette Herz hosted Berlin's most important conversations in their own homes. They had no institution behind them and hardly any money. People came because the conversation was good, and because there was nowhere else they could have met each other.

The Salon Berlin does the same thing today: one guest who knows their subject, a table of people who probably wouldn't meet otherwise, and a host who makes sure everyone gets heard.

There's no stage, no sponsor and no membership. We just borrow a room once a month.

Be at the first one

The first salon is being planned for autumn — free to come, about 25 seats, and you pay only for what you eat and drink. Leave your email and we'll send you the date as soon as it's fixed.
